Ellie attends Warwickshire Pride
During the month of August, while European Parliament is in recess, Dr Ellie Chowns, the Green Party MEP for the West Midlands, is getting out and about and meeting with people from all across the region. On Saturday, Ellie attended Warwickshire Pride at the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa, where she also addressed the crowd.
Ellie said, ”I was so pleased to speak at this wonderful celebration of equality and diversity. I congratulate the organisers of Warwickshire Pride, not only on another hugely successful event, but also on the important community work they do all year round.”
“Our society has come a long way in its acceptance of LGBTIQA+ people, and it’s vital to celebrate that. But there is still much more to be done to tackle hate crime and prejudices that belong way in the past. Events like Pride remind us of how far we’ve come, inspire us to keep working for equality, and remind us of the power of people working together to change the world for the better!”
“The Green Party has long been at the forefront of advancing the rights of the LGBTIQA+ community, so it was a great honour to represent my Party and show my support for everyone campaigning for those rights.”
